Hello, I’m a person who is currently living in South Korea.
Since I’m here in Korea, I’m having issues purchasing in-game merchants through my current account. All products must be purchased through ‘Battle-Coin’, but I have to use local currency to do it. Which is supposed to be Korean ‘won’ to do it, but my account’s nation is locked to ‘US’. So I cannot purchase any of the Battle Coins for the Korean Region. (US dollar Purcahsed Battle-Coin can’t do anything for Blizzard KR Shop. (It seems it’s separated shops.)
I created my current account in 2011 when I was in the US, and since then I have enjoyed almost every blizzard game and WOW quite a bit. I didn’t have any issue with purchasing in-game items wherever I was. It didn’t go through BattleCoin; instead, it just let me proceed directly to my payment method.
I also experienced purchasing and playing any blizzard game when I was back in Korea in 2018. Well, maybe at that time I was playing OW instead of WOW, but I was purchasing a 100-random box in OW at that time. So pretty sure it was worked without account’s nation changes.
Anyway, I was off from Blizzard for a while, and I’m back to play WOW with my other friends in KR. However, Blizzard stopped me from doing it because of a different currency issue.
So I contacted Blizzard Support to change my account nationality, but they said they couldn’t do it for KR players because of some stupid law in KR and were telling me to abandon my 13-year-old account and make a new one.
What a surprising answer I got there. So I asked to transfer all the data into a new one, but they refused.
I don’t care about my account’s national setting; I just want the old payment system back in time, not to go through this stupid ‘Battle-Coint’ that asks me to use local currency. Is there any other option with which I can solve this issue?
I have my Master Card and Paypal added to my account. Let me use it to purchase the item directly.
